Lost Senior Dog Winds Up In Actress Hilary Swank’s Lap

If someone told you a celebrity found your lost dog, you might think it’s a joke at first. So, Chelsea Blackwell was skeptical when someone said her missing Dachshund mix was with actress Hilary Swank. Yet, she couldn’t bear to go without her furry friend named Blue any longer, and she was willing to follow any leads.

To Blackwell’s surprise, the rumors about Swank finding Blue were correct. Not only did Blackwell get her beloved canine back, but she also got to have a once-in-a-lifetime interaction with the movie star. The day was a roller coaster of emotions.

15-year-old Blue is a talkative little dog who loves to seek out small animals to run after. He escaped his New York home when he chased something out of Blackwell’s yard. Blackwell’s other dog, Ladybug, came running back to the house shortly after going out, but when Blackwell called for Blue, the senior dog was nowhere to be seen.

“I was just, I was losing my mind because I’ve had Blue since he was a little puppy,” Blackwell said. “After losing my mom and my cousin, I didn’t want to lose my best friend, too.”

Blackwell drove around for about an hour looking for Blue. Then, she came across a crowd of people with several police cars and cameras nearby. When she stopped to ask someone what was going on, she found out it was a film set.

She asked a person there if anyone had seen a small brown dog, and to her surprise, the response was yes! But Blackwell was skeptical when she heard the details.

“I’d stopped and asked if someone seen a little brown dog? A man walked over to my car and said, yes, this woman picked him up. I said who? He replied, a celebrity,” Blackwell said.

When someone told Blackwell that Hilary Swank had her dog, she was sure it was a joke. She also had no idea if the brown dog they were referring to was Blue. So, Blackwell kept her expectations low as someone reached out to the person who supposedly had her dog.

Then, when a gray car pulled up about an hour later, Blackwell couldn’t believe her eyes. The dog peeking out of the vehicle was definitely Blue. And when the car door opened, Blackwell saw that Blue was sitting in Swank’s lap.

“I was like, ‘No way,’” Blackwell said. “As soon as she got out of the car, I kissed Blue and said, ‘Thank you so much.’”

Rescuing dogs is a big part of Swank’s life. She has her own organization that matches abandoned dogs with children who “have been given up by society.” Swank also has several rescue dogs of her own.

Before returning home, Blackwell asked Swank for an autograph. However, the Million Dollar Baby star gave the dog mom something even better. Swank took a photo with Blackwell and Blue so they can always remember this special day.
